While Silverdale has no official population figure because it is unincorporated, its general area had only 2,000 residents in 1970, but is projected that by the year 2000 that figure will have skyrocketed to 20,000. Silverdale hosts the peninsula’s premier commercial district and has been the site of rapid development and expansion of the retail, business, and housing sectors in Kitsap County. It is home to Kitsap Mall, a large regional shopping center with 700,000 square feet of retail space. Anchored by Sears, The Bon, Lamont’s, Mervyn’s and JC Penny, there are well over 100 smaller stores which meet a wide variety of shopping needs. Other retail developments, including Ross Plaza, Toys-R-Us, Kitsap Place, Costco, Towne Center, and Target Plaza provide a top-rate shopping experience to an estimated 250,000 shopping visitors from Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson and Clallam Counties. As a result, of this retail growth, Silverdale has replaced the city of Bremerton as the retail hub of Kitsap County. Silverdale and Central Kitsap enjoy one of the best school districts in the state. More information about the community of Silverdale. The Market: The average price for a 3 bedroom home runs from $135,000 to $145,000. Most homes are located within 15 minutes of central Silverdale. Main Attractions: | |||||||||||||
